Many of you are probably not familiar with the term "otolaryngologist." On the other hand, you undoubtedly know what an ear, nose and throat doctor is. Actually, they are one and the same. Just as eye doctors are called ophthalmologists. ENT doctors are called otolaryngologists. Say it a couple of times out loud. Easy, isn't it?
An otolaryngologist is a physician specialist with extensive training in diseases of the ear, nose, throat and other structures of the neck. They are highly trained in both medicine and surgery. They are experts in a range of illnesses from minor ear infections to complicated micro-surgery. To qualify for board certification, they must have at least five years of specialized training following medical school.
